The new lens has a chip (absent in the earlier version of the lens) that allows the photographer to use the automatic exposure mode and the i-TTL flash exposure control. The construction comprises 10 elements in 7 groups. The presence of an aspherical element hybrid promises better control of chromatic aberrations.
