Leica has announced a new wide angle light for his kit-S medium format digital system. The goal – Leica Elmarit 30mm f2.8 ASPH-S offers a picture angle equivalent to a 24mm (in 35mm format) and a minimum focus of 0.5 meters. An ideal lens for architecture, interiors and landscape, even in difficult lighting conditions.
The new wide-angle lens has seals against moisture and dust and has a weight of just over a pound. The construction 13 elements in 9 groups, including two aspherical lenses.
With the entrance of the new approach – which goes on sale from December 2011 – the Leica S-System (read our presentation) now includes five focal lengths. S-System is based on a size 30×45 mm sensor with a resolution of 37.5 megapixels.
The price of the new Leica S-System is $ 7,495.
