In the photograph in the room attitude is important to manage as it is located behind the subject or the background. You can use colored backgrounds, paper, fabric or even for the lucky stone. But having a bottom with a uniform color makes the images too flat at times. The ideal would be lively with lighting dedicated to it, maybe you create forms.
For this purpose we use the projectors in masks, in the jargon “gobos” (derived from “Goes Before Optics“, meaning “to be placed before dell’0ttica”). There are specific products and therefore quite expensive. We could just get busy with the DIY, following the example of British photographer Richard C Hill, who smashed an old Canon T70 and turn it into a projector of masks.
Richard removed the tendon reflex (note that it is easy to disassemble, but reassembling is tremendously difficult), printed on a transparency projection and a grid has fixed with adhesive tape instead of curtains. He then placed the head of a flashlight behind the shiny securing it with rubber bands. By focusing the camera in the background thus obtained has the effect of light coming through a grating.
